Check the careers you like to see if they’re dying careers or if the future forecast for them look good. It’s easy at bls.gov/ooh.
There is your true nature and the real world. If you don’t do a job that aligns with who you really are, you’ll never be happy.
If you go to college, go to their career center. They subscribe to career exploration databases that students can log into and use.
Do internships and get part-time jobs in your field while in college.
Go to college career fairs. The people there are recruiters for companies. If you are dressed well and speak eloquently, they can get you internships and jobs.
Don’t worry about interviews. Just be yourself.
Create a resume so you learn how to do it.
If you’re looking for a job, visit your local library. Get to know its resources. In addition to books, many libraries offer free workshops, business videos, tapes and most of the current magazines.
Simply ask for the job books, #331 and #650.14-15.
Get familiar with new books and resources in your field (computers, health care, crafts, etc.) as well as in business skills (advertising techniques, financing, etc.). Look for good business magazines.
Through meetings, services, or newsletters, business trade organizations offer members everything from camaraderie to knowledge to perks such as group rates on health insurance.
Business books go from #650-659 at the library and are are mostly between HD and HG of the Library of Congress System:
HC, Economic history.
HG, Finance.
HJ, Public finance.
